Thompson’s Falls – Kenya

Two Digital Gypsies Rating – 2 Stars

We stopped at Thompson’s Falls in Kenya on Day 3 of our safari there. It was on the way of our drive from the Ol Pejeta Conservancy to Lake Naivasha. At an elevation of 7750’ the falls cascade more than 240’ to the Ewaso Niro river below.

We didn’t stay long on our visit because the local shop owners and vendors were so pushy and aggressive that it took an intervention from our guide David for them to leave us alone. And even with David’s interceding it wasn’t till we started driving away from the stop that the vendors finally gave up.

If you’re on safari in Kenya and have a chance to stop at Thompson’s Falls, I’m not sure I would recommend the visit because of the vendors. The view of the falls from the railing was impressive and is just a short walk from the parking lot. Admission costs to view the falls were 200Ksh per adult person.

If not for the pushy vendors I would have probably rated the visit a star or more higher.
