The One Bull
Two Digital Gypsies Rating – 4 Stars
Located at Angel Hill in Bury St Edmunds, we were invited by friends to have dinner there. The One Bull ranks #12 of 132 restaurants in Bury so we were excited to check it out.
When you first walk into the restaurant you’re greeted with a warm inviting atmosphere. Along one wall is a long bar with bartenders busily serving drinks to patrons. There are also numerous couches and tables where you can relax with a drink while waiting to be seated for dinner. For drinks the ladies ordered wine and the guys ordered Aspall cider. The night we went the restaurant was jumping with customers.
After being seated for dinner we ordered starters of:
- Honey and sunflower bread
- Smoked haddock & prawn terrine, poached hens egg, toast
- Pheasant & walnut satay
For dinner we ordered:
- Beer & bacon mussels, skinny fries
- Salmon fillet, spiced lentils, roast butternut squash
- One bull & horseradish burger, home cut chips, tomato chutney
- Pork chop, bubble & squeak, kale, mulled cider sauce
The food was very good, the wait staff was friendly and efficient, and we spent an enjoyable couple of hours at the restaurant. The meal was filling enough that no one had room for dessert, so when we go again I think I’ll skip the starters and save room for the chocolate coffee mousse or the spotted dick custard.
Meal costs seemed reasonable, the total for the four of us with tip was just under £100. That’s drinks for four, starters, and the main courses. If you visit Bury St Edmunds add The One Bull to one of your eating stops.
