Cloudy Bay Wine Bar
Two Digital Gypsies Rating – 2.5 Stars
Located in the Royal Albert Hall, we had reservations at the Cloudy Bay Wine Bar before the performance of Carmina Burana.
The wine bar opens 2 hours before a performance and we decided we would try the Spanish charcuterie sharing board (for two) at 22 pounds which included:
- Cured Teruel ham
- Salchichon De Vic
- Chorizo Magno
- Teruel Lomo
- Torta de Acelle biscuits
- Almonds & Caper berries
Barbara tried the Cloudy Bay Pinot Noir, 2010 red wine and I tried the Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc, 2012 white wine.
The wine bar was full and there was only one hostess and one waitress so I’m not sure if this affected the service which was friendly but spotty. We’re pretty laid back as far as customers go, but it got to the point where we had to flag down the hostess to get a glass of water and our bill, and the service was so slow that we didn’t have time to order a second glass of wine.
The tasting plate was fair in quality, and we enjoyed the wine but our seating was cold due to an open window in the stairwell nearby. The meal as a whole was expensive coming to a total of 66 pounds ($107 US).
Next visit to Royal Albert Hall I think we’ll be tempted to try another cafe in or near the Hall.
